Power of Love: the Temple of Leah – Cebu, Philippines

It is not a religious place but is a place of love. The Temple of Leah is a private temple with Roman-style architecture that was constructed on the hilltop of the Cebu suburbs. Mr. Teodorico S. Adarna built this luxurious castle for his deceased wife, Leah, and opened it to the public with an entrance fee. In May 2024, we visited there as part of a city tour of Cebu that was held as the final excursion of our English training school.

There is a white Greco-Roman temple on the hill with a large terrace. We can find a tall golden statue of Leah seated in the center of the castle and two stories of the twenty-four chambers are placed besides the statue. Each chamber has its purpose. One room is for the library, and the other is a music room. There are so many oil paintings, photos, ceramics, and jewelry. When I found Klimt’s painting on the wall of the corridor, I realized that this was the temple of love!

The view from the terrace is also stunning! We can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the entire Cebu city with statues of goddesses. I suppose the night panoramic view might be awesome. There is no public transportation, however, you should visit there when you stay in Cebu. Don’t miss the statute of armor on the outside of the temple!
